In October we took a short but fulfilling holiday to the Bavarian Forest, a place we’ve loved in the past. With just a week to relax, our aim was simple: to get away from our usual surroundings and enjoy the tranquillity of a different landscape. We didn’t have any particular ambitions other than to have a good time in the outdoors.
For us, the big advantage of the Bavarian Forest is the contrast to the steep mountains we’re used to. The green here is lush and vibrant. The ground is often covered in moss and ferns, which is a bit different from most places back home. There are also a few small streams in the area. Together with the moss there are a lot of nice motives. I could spend hours just taking pictures of these creeks!
We’ve decided to stay at the BayVista – The Bayerwald Lodge again. We have stayed there twice before and really enjoyed it. I highly recommend checking it out if you are in the area.
Lucky with the weather
We were really lucky with the weather during our stay! We encountered everything from enveloping fog to pristine sunshine, while mercifully escaping the rains. We revisited a familiar summit – the Osser, allowing ourselves the comfort of known joy. During that hike we were super lucky to experience an amazing lighting situation where sun rays just did shine through the branches and created an excellent mood.
We were very lucky with the weather during our stay! We experienced everything from enveloping fog to bright sunshine, while mercifully escaping the rain. We revisited a familiar peak – the Osser – and indulged in the comfort of familiar pleasure. On this hike we were lucky enough to experience some amazing light conditions, with the sun’s rays shining through the branches and creating an excellent atmosphere.
But we also ventured out on new paths, eager for new experiences: One was from the Arbersee to the Arber, which turned out to be super moody: When we set off, it was foggy and a bit chilly. As expected, the fog created a special atmosphere – but I didn’t manage to take many good photos. When we reached the summit, we were greeted by sunshine and some nice views.
